The Atomic Bitchwax Return To Tee Pee Records With "TAB 4" out April 21st

The Atomic Bitchwax return to Tee Pee Records with TAB 4 due out April 21st. Here is the lead track off TAB 4 - Revival.

Chris Kosnik (Bass & Vocals) Bob Pantella (Drums, also from Monster Magnet) and Finn Ryan (Guitar & vocals) are back again combining the best of their Rush-like riff mazes and the dueling Kosnik/Ryan vocal harmonies creating the wall of sound and precision TAB fans have come to expect.

In 2008, The Jersey Shore power trio The Atomic Bitchwax set out to record their latest 11 high energy Riff-Rock tunes on the appropriately titled "TAB 4". Recorded by the band themselves and mixed by Eric Rachel at the famed NJ Trax-East Studios. This time around finds the band shifting gears over and over from the pulsing groove of the title track "Revival" to the inhuman face melting speed of the instrumental "Super Computer" will leave listeners and players alike wanting more.

For more than 10 years the band has climbed up and out from the basements of NJ to play nearly 1000 live shows in over 20 countries, the band is currently on tour in Europe. This is no three chord bullshit...this is the Bitchwax.

Assemble Head In Sunburst Sound To Release New LP, When Sweet Sleep Returned April 7th

Assemble Head In Sunburst Sound will return with their third LP and second for Tee Pee Records titled "When Sweet Sleep Returned" On April 7th.

San Francisco's Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound is a soundtrack for strange days and futures bright and bleak. But there is also a crooked thread that runs backward through every Assemble Head record the celestial trajectories of The Notorious Byrd Brothers and circa 70 Floyd; the dusty canyon stomps of Crazy Horse, slashing action pop of the savage young Who, Italian bastardizations of Lalo Schifrin cop movie scores, and the scuzz-bomb shrapnel of latter-day garage mongers like Mudhoney and Monoshock.

The bands third LP, When Sweet Sleep Returned, is propelled to some extent by that same glorious distillate. But it also finds the group speaking their own twisted tongue more assuredly than evermarrying hazy Saturday moods, interstellar sonics and wrecking-ball swing to song and harmony in poems for California, lovers, ghosts, the stars, and a world gone stark raving mad.

For When Sweet Sleep Returned, Assemble Head re-united with engineering mastermind Tim Green, who manned the controls for masterpieces from Howlin Rain, Comets on Fire, Six Organs of Admittance, and Earthless, as well as Assemble Heads 2007 release Ekranoplan.

New Release Date Set for Serena-Maneesh Record

On January 19, Bad Afro will release a 7” EP with Serena-Maneesh from Oslo. The EP will include exclusive remixes of “Montrose Cadaveric (Revevise)” and ”Oxygen, Please! (Revisited)” and will be limited to 500 copies on black vinyl.

Serena-Maneesh is like a deafening explosion of noise in your head. Trying to pin point their sound is a difficult task but Serena-Maneesh could be described as a cold Nordic variation of psychedelic rock where elements of pop cleverly blends with walls of noise. They transcend musical genres with great ease which make Serena-Maneesh one of the most interesting bands on the Nordic rock scene.

Serena-Maneesh recently released the retrospective album S-M Backwards (Smalltown Supersound), consisting of their first two EPs and remixes of songs previously only available in Norway. They are currently working on their new album. When the self-titled debut album was released in 2006 on the UK label Playlouder it received rave reviews in the local press:

“One of the most intriguing walls of sound since My Bloody Valentine...”
- Uncut 4/5

“...a phantasmagoria of ethereaal vocals, pounding rhythms and implausably fuzzy guitars that veer between pop and noise, structure and chaos.”
- Metro 4/5

“Make no mistake, this is a band worthy of worship...visecral, exciting, deafening and just an itsy-witsy bit frightening: Sarena Maneesh is all that and more.”
- NME

“Luminously melodic, the stuff of dreams.”
- The Independent

“...glittering, swaying, fulsome songs of the highest order.”
- Guardian

CAPRICORNS: New Song Posted Online

London, England-based experimental metal band CAPRICORNS has posted a new song entitled "November Suicides" on its MySpace page. The track comes off the group's new album, "River, Bear Your Bones", which is scheduled for release on September 30 via Rise Above Records.

According to a press release, "the sound of CAPRICORNS is a heady mix of crushing power and dark, subtle beauty that has won over fans of the heavy arts worldwide. Comprised of members currently or previously involved in projects as disparate as IRON MONKEY, ORANGE GOBLIN and CATTLEPRESS, CAPRICORNS merge post-hardcore instrumentation with a pronounced post-rock tack, blurring the lines at every turn to deliver music that is both interesting and memorable. While previous efforts have seen the occasional vocal outburst (most notably from OXBOW's Eugene Robinson on 2006's 'Ruder Forms Survive'); this time around CAPRICORNS titanic arrangements are strong enough to easily hold their own."

"River, Bear Your Bones" is CAPRICORNS' masterwork; an engaging listen that is at once more precise and more exploratory than anything the band has done before. From the battle-doom opener "Broken Coffin of the Venerable King" to the evil prog of "The Bells Rang Backwards" through to the album's monumental conclusion — the 11-minute epic "Drinking Water From The Skull of A Hanged Man" — "River, Bear Your Bones" refuses to release the listener from its tenacious grip. Although devoid of vocals, the album harbors a conceptual theme throughout surrounding the band's own London. "River, Bear Your Bones" is CAPRICORNS' tribute to "life on the stones" and "a paean to Father Thames and the London Towne that spreads from its banks like a concrete cancer."

Refusing to be pinned to a particular genre or classification, CAPRICORNS have consistently made a point to perform in front of diverse audiences. While in the midst of writing "River, Bear Your Bones", the band was selected to appear at both the decidedly indie All Tomorrow's Parties Festival (alongside such bands as ARCHITECTURE IN HELSINKI, ISIS and GRIZZLY BEAR) and the decidedly-hard rock Roadburn Festival (where the band shared the stage with WITCHCRAFT, GRAND MAGUS, TROUBLE and more).

Since its formation in 2003, CAPRICORNS' sound and live sets have garnered high praise from such rock royalty as the MELVINS' King Buzzo and NEUROSIS' Steve Von Till.

"River, Bear Your Bones" track listing:

01. Broken Coffin of the Venerable King (8:45)
02. Seventh Child of a Seventh Child (5:49)
03. Tempered With the Blood of Beasts (6:56)
04. November Suicides (5:36)
05. Owing to the Fogs (7:25)
06. The Bells Rang Backwards (5:49)
07. A Savage Race by Shipwrecks Fed (6:58)
08. Drinking Water From The Skull of a Hanged Man (10:55)

On the topic of "River, Bear Your Bones", CAPRICORNS' guitarist Nathan Bennett states, "With the departure of our first drummer Chris Turner we decided to seize the opportunity to take CAPRICORNS to a sonic place only previously hinted at. The time signatures grew odder, the pace grew faster, melodic interplay grew more complex and we became more aggressive overall. This was partially a reaction to previously being painted with the stoner and/or ‘instru-metal' genre brush (which always made us cringe) and a natural progression for us as musicians and, dare I say it, composers. We wanted to make a unique dirty-ass metal record without vocals that could rip your face off but would also not be stuck in some obscure sub-genre ghetto, doomed to sound dated in two years time. In short, we hope we've created a powerful work that can tickle the grey matter and make you want to fuck shit up forever."

In addition to Bennett, CAPRICORNS features Kevin Williams (guitar), Dean Berry (bass) and Nathan Perrier (drums).

New RTX To Be Released In October

From Drag City Publicity:

I would like to introduce you to the new RTX record JJ Got Live RaTX hitting streets Oct. 21 on Drag City. Jennifer Herrema's throaty crackle snakes through a labyrinth of scrap rock and salvaged arena metal, a combination that’s nearly as confounding and contradictory as any Royal Trux output. Her vocals are smoked out but amplified, punctuating steroid-pumped instrumentation yet balancing those fist-waving experiments against a rough core that keeps Herrema more woman than machine. Even the murkiest sludge has a shine to its surface here, but there’s still something basement-floor dirty and low-grade psychedelic inherent to the vibe — Herrema’s style of spitting out lyrics like she’s loosening phlegm. The shredding guitar riffs will rip you up and hang you dry!

Beyond the real deal is the unreal deal, from which descend RTX, who are Jennifer Herrema from Royal Truxshe who skins her own furspluplus four iron-hided shred-men, one of whom is on drums simply to underscore such a happy surplus of shred capability. RTX is music from Decline of Western Civilization Part 2 and vocals from Decline of Western Civilization Part 1 and they are hesh perfection so pure the graves at Trenton stir wary anew. Eagles Of Death Metal Release Date and Tour Dates

"It's been a while since we've heard from the always eccentric, Axl Rose-eviscerating Jesse "Boots Electric" Hughes and his wild 'n' wooly band of cohorts, which of course is co-helmed by almighty Queen of the Stone Age Josh Homme. But finally, they're ready to unveil another mammoth monument to rock.

SPIN.com has the exclusive info on the Eagles' newest full-length, titled Heart-On and scheduled for release Oct. 21 via Downtown Recordings. The album was produced by Josh Homme and, as his partner-in-semi-sardonic-riffage Hughes tells us, is "EODM's latest fabulous weapon, a top-secret music missile, a sonic warhead sexually tipped for her pleasure, shot from the deck of USS EODM Mantastic Fantastic." Tour dates across California and parts of Texas and Arizona (as listed below) will follow with co-headliners the Hives.

And for those of you East Coasters who are all, "Hey, what gives? I want me a dose of that Eagles charm and they're not playing my Podunk town yet," we've got ya covered. Click on the clip below the tour dates for Part 1 of a series of cross-promotional videos Hughes filmed at the reputedly rock 'n' roll Denny's in L.A. In keeping with the album's title, Hughes and the Denny's cooks (chefs might be pushing it) concoct heart-shaped pancakes and breakfast sandwiches, as the band's frontman conjures names for the menu items ("the Lovers Special") and correlating slogans ("Every night is ladies night with Eagles of Death Metal. We put our heart right on a plate."; "It's a heart of rock 'n' roll on a sleeve of taters.").

"Something magical happened in that Denny’s kitchen," says Hughes. "I discovered musical arts and culinary arts are one in the same; transparent and transitionless talent across every spectrum. I'm talking a seamless creative energy force of spatial enlightenment, an atmospheric aphrodisiac of complete artistical awareness. Plus, both have the word art, which is pretty cool."

Oh, and as for whether he might considering sending one of his Lovers Specials to old pal Rose as an olive branch, Hughes laughs and and says, "I don't think a $2.99 Denny’s breakfast messengered to Malibu would come across as a peace offering in this case… It's a positive thought. I love the idea. Friend-effective is relative to every situation… If he ain’t looking for my friendship, I ain’t looking to pursue friendship. Our friends, family, and fans are the backbone of EODM support and solidarity. Friendship is from the Heart."

Eagles of Death Metal Tour Dates (w/ the Hives:

9/16, Austin, TX (Stubbs)
9/17, Dallas, TX (House of Blues)
9/19, Tempe, AZ (Marquee Theatre)
9/20, San Diego, CA (Gas Light District)

BIGELF Completes Work On New Album

Psychedelic progressive rock band BIGELF has completed work on its long-awaited new album, entitled "Cheat the Gallows". The follow-up to the band's acclaimed full-length "Hex" is scheduled for release on August 12 via the Custard label.

"Cheat the Gallows" was recorded at Kung Fu Gardens studios in North Hollywood and produced by BIGELF frontman Damon Fox. The album features 10 diverse tracks of hallucinatory hard rock, showcasing the band's multi-layered arrangements, rich, sophisticated vocal harmonies and Fox's spectacular dual-Mellotron / Hammond organ / Moog synthesizer saturations. On "Cheat the Gallows", BIGELF's "new classic" sound blends strong post-Hendrix ferocity with a potent post-BEATLES tunefulness, resulting in diabolically-heavy pop rife with epic guitars, infectious hooks and unforgettably refined melody patterns that will undoubtedly find appeal with classic hard rock fans, vintage prog-heads and heavy metal enthusiasts alike.

An in-studio montage featuring images of the band recording "Cheat the Gallows" can be viewed below.

The first single released from "Cheat the Gallows" is "Money, It's Pure Evil". Lyrically, "Money…" is a philosophical look at how the almighty dollar "changes people" while musically, the track rides on a Lennon-McCartney-infused tidal wave of expression. Check out "Money, It's Pure Evil" now at this location.

When asked about the new album, BIGELF frontman/keyboardist Damon Fox comments, "Every decade needs a defining rock opera/concept album to stir the pot and get people inspired about music again. I believe 'Cheat the Gallows' is one of those albums."

"Cheat the Gallows" track listing:

01. Gravest Show on Earth
02. Blackball
03. Money, It's Pure Evil
04. The Evils of Rock & Roll
05. No Parachute
06. The Game
07. Superstar
08. Race With Time
09. Hydra
10. Counting Sheep

In support of "Cheat the Gallows", BIGELF has announced a string of live performances including a day-of-release in-store performance at Amoeba Records Hollywood on August 12 and a special Los Angeles record-release show, set to take place on Wednesday, August 13 at The Roxy.

BIGELF's mesmerizing live performances — boasting theatrics reminiscent of rock shows from the 70's — have seen praise from such music luminaries as Alicia Keys, former NIRVANA/current FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl, BLACK CROWES head-honcho Chris Robinson and Serj Tankian of SYSTEM OF A DOWN (who released BIGELF's second record "Money Machine" through his own Serjical Strike Records). In 2007, BIGELF teamed with pop superstar Christina Aguilera to record a cover of the JOHN LENNON classic "Mother" for the major benefit-album project "Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur".

John Wilkes Booth- "Sic Semper Tyrannis" To Be Released June 17, 2008

John Wilkes Booth has just completed their first full length release "Sic Semper Tyrannis". Booth fans, whose numbers are ever increasing, have eagerly been awaiting the fulfillment of promises for new tracks from the latest recording sessions. They will not be disappointed. Since the formation of the band in 2005, the band has consistently recorded and played live shows while continually escalating their fan base.

With a sound "that draws largely from punk and stoner rock with just a small smattering of metal" this eclectic quartet deems their brand of sinewy rhythms and bong fueled jams "Dirt Rock." In 2006, John Wilkes Booth released a self titled EP. The tracks "The Inner Workings" & "Only the Facts" were featured on the Compilation "Fumes from a Dead Scene" in 2007. Both received praises from fans as well as critics.

John Wilkes Booth abides by a strict "no-pay-to-play" policy, refusing to financially compensate venues in order to be added to the bill. The band’s popularity has featured the foursome playing shows along the east coast with such national acts as The Hidden Hand, La Otracina, Zoroaster, Puny Human, Solace, Wooly Mammoth, and Wrecketh. The NY Speed Coalition reviewed the Booth show at Bar 131 and stated, "The dirt rock assassins played an absolutely flawless set of bone shattering, ground shaking hard rock."

In May of 2008, Aural Fix, a Long Island magazine covering the local music scene, featured the band on the front cover. In 2007, John Wilkes Booth was chosen as a featured band on Fatcat Radio as well as selected as band of the week for Joe's Podhole. In June of that year, they were voted by listeners as band of the month on local radio station, Radiox. Podcasts and word of mouth have turned on audiences across America and the world.

Let Sic Semper Tyrannis assault your ears with the sound that so many fans have been waiting for. Let John Wilkes Booth assault your mind.
