On January 19, Bad Afro will release a 7” EP with Serena-Maneesh from Oslo. The EP will include exclusive remixes of “Montrose Cadaveric (Revevise)” and ”Oxygen, Please! (Revisited)” and will be limited to 500 copies on black vinyl.
Serena-Maneesh is like a deafening explosion of noise in your head. Trying to pin point their sound is a difficult task but Serena-Maneesh could be described as a cold Nordic variation of psychedelic rock where elements of pop cleverly blends with walls of noise. They transcend musical genres with great ease which make Serena-Maneesh one of the most interesting bands on the Nordic rock scene.
Serena-Maneesh recently released the retrospective album S-M Backwards (Smalltown Supersound), consisting of their first two EPs and remixes of songs previously only available in Norway. They are currently working on their new album. When the self-titled debut album was released in 2006 on the UK label Playlouder it received rave reviews in the local press:
“One of the most intriguing walls of sound since My Bloody Valentine...”
- Uncut 4/5
“...a phantasmagoria of ethereaal vocals, pounding rhythms and implausably fuzzy guitars that veer between pop and noise, structure and chaos.”
- Metro 4/5
“Make no mistake, this is a band worthy of worship...visecral, exciting, deafening and just an itsy-witsy bit frightening: Sarena Maneesh is all that and more.”
- NME
“Luminously melodic, the stuff of dreams.”
- The Independent
“...glittering, swaying, fulsome songs of the highest order.”
- Guardian
