NEW FU MANCHU SONG "BIONIC ASTRONAUTICS" POSTED ONLINE

Southern California's heavy fuzz rock legends FU MANCHU have completed work on their eleventh full length album. The electrifying group will drop Signs of Infinite Power on October 20, 2009 via Century Media Records.

A sneak peak at what Signs of Infinite Power holds in store can be experienced today as the new FU MANCHU song “Bionic Astronautics” has been posted online courtesy of AOL Music’s “NoiseCreep”. Check out the action now at this location. A 30 second “teaser” clip for the new album has also been posted to the band’s newly refashioned MySpace page.

Recorded at Maple Studios in Santa Ana, California by the band and producer Sergio Chavez (Motörhead, Helmet) and mixed by Andrew Alekel (Foo Fighters, Danzig), Signs of Infinite Power could well be dubbed “a reawakening” of FU MANCHU as the record delivers monstrous doses of the group’s punk energy, hard rock drive and psychedelic crunch in spades. From the instant the album’s lead track “Bionic Astronautics” soars from the speakers, it is undeniably evident that FU MANCHU is as primed and hungry as ever before. The record holds the sound of a band rocking purely for the sheer joy of rocking; amps cranked to 11 and revved to maximum overdrive.

The final track listing for Signs of Infinite Power is as follows:

01.) Bionic Astronautics
02.) Steel.Beast.Defeated
03.) Against the Ground
04.) Webfoot Witch Hat
05.) El Busta
06.) Signs of Infinite Power
07.) Eyes x 10
08.) Gargantuan March
09.) Take It Away
10.) One Step Too Far

I'm going to Disney World, talk to you guys next week!

CORMORANT Post Song From New Album On Myspace!!

Francisco Bay Area progressive extreme metallers CORMORANT have unveiled a new song off their upcoming full-length, Metazoa, which was recorded with and produced by Billy Anderson (NEUROSIS, MELVINS, SLEEP, PRIMORDIAL). The song, entitled “Salt of the Earth,” will be debuted on the band’s Myspace at midnight their time (3am EST). According to bassist/vocalist Arthur von Nagel, the band chose to use “Salt of the Earth” as the first single because, “The song succinctly brings our doom, folk, black metal, prog rock and death metal elements together.”

Mixed by Anderson and mastered by Justin Weis (HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE, LUDICRA, SLOUGH FEG), Metazoa features ten tracks of forward-thinking, multihued black metal that combines the folk-tinged atmospheres of Agalloch with straight-up heavy metal thunder, the expansiveness of post-rock, and the progressive blackness of latter-day Enslaved. Increasingly often mentioned in the same breath as friends and like-minded souls Hammers of Misfortune, Ludicra, Giant Squid, and Asunder, CORMORANT have established themselves as one of the brightest rising stars of the once again burgeoning San Francisco metal scene, and with the release of their debut full-length, Metazoa, promise to continue their graceful rise to the top.

Track listing for Metazoa

01. Scavengers Feast
02. Uneasy Lies the Head
03. Salt of the Earth
04. Blood on the Cornfields
05. Hanging Gardens
06. Hole in the Sea
07. The Crossing
08. The Emigrant's Wake
09. The Sky Burial

CAPRICORNS: New Song Posted Online

London, England-based experimental metal band CAPRICORNS has posted a new song entitled "November Suicides" on its MySpace page. The track comes off the group's new album, "River, Bear Your Bones", which is scheduled for release on September 30 via Rise Above Records.

According to a press release, "the sound of CAPRICORNS is a heady mix of crushing power and dark, subtle beauty that has won over fans of the heavy arts worldwide. Comprised of members currently or previously involved in projects as disparate as IRON MONKEY, ORANGE GOBLIN and CATTLEPRESS, CAPRICORNS merge post-hardcore instrumentation with a pronounced post-rock tack, blurring the lines at every turn to deliver music that is both interesting and memorable. While previous efforts have seen the occasional vocal outburst (most notably from OXBOW's Eugene Robinson on 2006's 'Ruder Forms Survive'); this time around CAPRICORNS titanic arrangements are strong enough to easily hold their own."

"River, Bear Your Bones" is CAPRICORNS' masterwork; an engaging listen that is at once more precise and more exploratory than anything the band has done before. From the battle-doom opener "Broken Coffin of the Venerable King" to the evil prog of "The Bells Rang Backwards" through to the album's monumental conclusion — the 11-minute epic "Drinking Water From The Skull of A Hanged Man" — "River, Bear Your Bones" refuses to release the listener from its tenacious grip. Although devoid of vocals, the album harbors a conceptual theme throughout surrounding the band's own London. "River, Bear Your Bones" is CAPRICORNS' tribute to "life on the stones" and "a paean to Father Thames and the London Towne that spreads from its banks like a concrete cancer."

Refusing to be pinned to a particular genre or classification, CAPRICORNS have consistently made a point to perform in front of diverse audiences. While in the midst of writing "River, Bear Your Bones", the band was selected to appear at both the decidedly indie All Tomorrow's Parties Festival (alongside such bands as ARCHITECTURE IN HELSINKI, ISIS and GRIZZLY BEAR) and the decidedly-hard rock Roadburn Festival (where the band shared the stage with WITCHCRAFT, GRAND MAGUS, TROUBLE and more).

Since its formation in 2003, CAPRICORNS' sound and live sets have garnered high praise from such rock royalty as the MELVINS' King Buzzo and NEUROSIS' Steve Von Till.

"River, Bear Your Bones" track listing:

01. Broken Coffin of the Venerable King (8:45)
02. Seventh Child of a Seventh Child (5:49)
03. Tempered With the Blood of Beasts (6:56)
04. November Suicides (5:36)
05. Owing to the Fogs (7:25)
06. The Bells Rang Backwards (5:49)
07. A Savage Race by Shipwrecks Fed (6:58)
08. Drinking Water From The Skull of a Hanged Man (10:55)

On the topic of "River, Bear Your Bones", CAPRICORNS' guitarist Nathan Bennett states, "With the departure of our first drummer Chris Turner we decided to seize the opportunity to take CAPRICORNS to a sonic place only previously hinted at. The time signatures grew odder, the pace grew faster, melodic interplay grew more complex and we became more aggressive overall. This was partially a reaction to previously being painted with the stoner and/or ‘instru-metal' genre brush (which always made us cringe) and a natural progression for us as musicians and, dare I say it, composers. We wanted to make a unique dirty-ass metal record without vocals that could rip your face off but would also not be stuck in some obscure sub-genre ghetto, doomed to sound dated in two years time. In short, we hope we've created a powerful work that can tickle the grey matter and make you want to fuck shit up forever."

In addition to Bennett, CAPRICORNS features Kevin Williams (guitar), Dean Berry (bass) and Nathan Perrier (drums).

Verse en Coma Set Release Date, New Track Posted

Somewhere between the present day and unfortunate endings of PG.99, City of Caterpillar, and Malady, a "lost" recording was created but shelved for several years. Five dynamic tracks that collided with both artistic and industry red tape comprise the Verse en Coma debut release, Rialto. Finally though the dust has settled, the hurdles have all been jumped and Rialto will finally see the light of day as a dual-format 10"+CD release through Robotic Empire.

Verse en Coma was formed by the songwriting backbone of Malady (Jeff Kane, Kevin Longendyke, Jonathan Moore) and joined by Darkest Hour/City of Caterpillar drummer (Ryan Parrish) and multi-talented vocalist Brian Markham. Most of the songs were written towards the end of Malady but re-vamped and enhanced with the joining of Parrish and Markham to the group. The results are an impressive and varied recording, which was engineered and executed by the band themselves over a several-year period.

A newly mastered track from Rialto can now be heard online through the band`s MySpace page.

Addressing the delays, quote Moore: "I can`t wait for it to come out. Thanks for all your patience and I hope we turn a few heads with this one."

Verse en Coma`s debut 10"+CD Rialto will be available August 12, 2008.

CULT OF LUNA: New Song Posted Online

Swedish art-rockers CULT OF LUNA have revealed a brand new song on the band's MySpace page. The track, titled "Eternal Kingdom", comes off the band's upcoming album of the same name.

"Eternal Kingdom", the fifth full-length album from CULT OF LUNA, was recorded at Tonteknik Studios in the band's hometown of Umeå and was produced by Magnus Lindberg. The follow-up to 2006's "Somewhere along the Highway" is said to be a much heavier and darker affair than previous albums.

CULT OF LUNA founder and guitarist Johannes Persson explains the intriguing story behind the "Eternal Kingdom" album concept at this location.

The recently released "Eternal Kingdom" artwork also has a deep connection to the music contained within.

"The artwork is inspired by old woodcuts and it is definitely the right way of maintain and amplify the harshness of the 'Eternal Kingdom'," said the band. "With the Man/Owl king in the middle, it is a perfect visual representation of how the album is going to sound."

CULT OF LUNA was honored with a "P3 Guld" award (for the band's criticially acclaimed "Somewhere along the Highway" release) in January 2007 from Swedish radio station P3 in the "Best Rock/Metal Album of the Year" category.
