New Band To Burn One To: Sachem

Ooooh, now this is a bit fucking tasty! Vermont trio Sachem have put out a teasing demo for an upcoming release, and it's all kinds of nasty sludge metal with huge riffs that we love to get our teeth into, all drenched under heavy blues tones that ache awesomeness.

With a little enhanced production (not too much though), any future releases from these guys (Matt S - drums and vocals, Brett S - bass, Andrew G - guitar and vocals) is going to have us very excited to listen, as we're expecting very big, noisey things from these guys. For now, check out their demo, and crank it up loud!

New Band To Burn One To: Onoskelis

The demo from Stockholm, Sweden's, newest purveyors of psychedelic stoner doom heaviness, Onoskelis, is a mightly impressive listen. The three tracks on show offer a range from energetic stoner driven riffs, to heart pounding doom, all covered over with a cloak of psychedelic haziness that carry similarities with their fellow countrymen Monolord, in all the right areas.

We predict big things for these three dudes in the near future, and when you listen to a track like 'Atlantean Blade' for the umpteenth time, you will wholeheartedly agree! Go listen, download, and bang your head away to now!

New Band To Burn One To: Slugpie

French three piece Slugpie have just released a Demo of four of the nastiest sludge punishments that we’ve heard all year, and we mean sludge in its heaviest, choking sense. Like a lot of today’s sludge bands, Slugpie has roots embedded into Blues and the grooving tones underpin the fuzzy claustrophobic riffs, especially on a track like ‘Mojo Drown’. The vocals come out like Dopethrone with a sore throat, and they’re as scary as they are addictive.

Slugpie are everything we like about Sludge in 2016: thrashingly fast and doomily slow, suffocating and relentless riffing, and heavy and nasty as hell! I need a shower.

New Band To Burn One To: Low Sun

Now this is interesting.
Low Sun are an instrumental stoner/psychedelic band from London, UK, who also mix in some darker ambient vibes with a post-rock feel, before exploding into the stoner riffs we all adore so much. Their two-track demo, Prologue, dares to expand the corners of what constitutes stoner rock and psychedelia with courage and a musical talent which speaks for itself; ‘Novice Swordfighter’ straddles an Earthless feel with some powerful riffs, while the fuzz riffs of ‘The Monster Storm’ eagerly lay waste to what’s before you. An excellent release!

Readers of this blog will love what these guys are doing. Check out their stuff before their debut full-length inevitably blows your mind.

New Band To Burn One To: Intet

If you like your riffs played with a thousand-ton hammer, with your face dragged along broken skulls on a gloomy dark night, with the constant feeling of paranoia and impending death, the holy shit, we have found the band for you! Stockholm, Sweden’s, droning doom newcomers Intet have crafted a demo of epic proportions! Mixed in amongst the slow drone of the apocalyptic backdrop comes absolute killer riffs to melt the heartiest of metallers faces, and vocals spewn from hell itself. The songs are layered, unnerving, and exciting, covering all corners of metal/doom to keep everyone happy.

This is a seriously impressive demo that shows that Intet are going to be creating something masterful with their debut record. Watch this space!

New Band To Burn One To: Never

Australian five-piece Never have delivered a swift kick to the bollocks with their demo EP. Three tracks of huge riffs, growling vocals, and heavy as hell percussion that smack you into next week. You listen to tracks like ‘Serpent Woman’ and ‘Trampled Like A Goat’ and can see the five Melbourne guys in a sweaty, dingy, badly lit bar, sweating the beer through their hair, ripping you a new one as your neck snaps from over use. This is pure rock and roll, and we love it! Get it at their Bandcamp.
