Song of the Day-Kroh-"Living Water"

"Living Water" is a new single/video from British female fronted doom band Kroh. Back in May we were given a little taste of what's to come in the way of the two-song release "Precious Bones". Now, we are once again teased by the delicate and passionate doom-laden outpooring of "Living Water". There is so much skull-rattling fuzz that I am still trembling. Hope to hear of a full-length from this band very soon. For more information, please check out the following links: Facebook | Bandcamp

Song of the Day-SardoniS-"Battering-Ram"

"Battering-Ram" is the second single taken off of the upcoming album "III" out September 11th, 2015 on Belgian record label Consouling Sounds. The song is a skull-crushing fuzzfest that rattles and rumbles with penetrating doom and furious intensity. Love the ultra-violent cartoon video which coincides with the song. J. THORN Publishes Video Magazine for Fans of Horror and Heavy Metal

Today, Heavy Planet writer and friend J.Thorn announces the launching of Dark Arts Theater Volume 1, a video magazine dedicated to horror, dark fantasy, heavy metal and hard rock. A veteran of the heavy metal scene and an Amazon Top 100 Most Popular Author in Horror, Thorn brought together the two art forms he has been so passionate about for more than 30 years.

“I’ve been attracted to dark art since I was ten years old,” says Thorn. “Listening to Black Sabbath while reading Stephen King became part of my life as a teenager and something I still do today. Having been in a heavy band and now writing horror novels, I feel like I can present the best of both worlds to people who are as fanatic about this stuff as I am.”

Dark Arts Theater Volume 1 consists of ten 30-40 minute issues. The show is available free of charge on YouTube (video), iTunes (audio) and via a dedicated website at http://darkartstheater.com. Thorn is currently working on Dark Arts Theater Volume 2, due out by the end of 2015. In addition, he will be releasing weekly “Top Three” videos on topics related to heavy metal and horror.

For more information and free access to all of the issues, visit http://darkartstheater.com.

Video Premiere: Pale Horseman-"Conquistador"

Today we premiere the new video "Conquistador" from Chicago's sludge stalwart Pale Horseman. The song is from their highly-acclaimed second album "Mourn The Black Lotus".

The band continues to pummel audiences with their downtrodden heaviness and brutal industrial aura and has currently entered the studio to record their yet to be titled third installment to be released sometime in the fall of 2015.

The album will consist of 5 songs running 45 minutes and will be the band's first release on vinyl.

Now in all it's ear-deafening apocalyptic glory, we give to you "Conquistador".

The Ocular Audio Experiment's New Video "Mesmeria"

The Ocular Audio Experiment, a psychedelic shapeshifter from Boston has just released a new video for 1 of 2 tracks from their recent release "Mesmeria", an entirely improvised EP. Clocking in at roughly 23 minutes, the video is an abstract epic made with humble means by The Ocular Audio Experiment's founder Alex Pollock. Though the group is still young at only a year and a half, they released 4 albums in 2010, all of which are drastically different, and they are currently working on their second full length album which is to be released this summer. You can buy their music here: http://findingsoftheothereye.net/

HEAVY PLANET EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE OF NEW FEN VIDEO "MIRACLE"

In January of 1998, in the mountain shadows of Nelson, British Columbia, a creatorship was formed between two recluses. One had long hair, strange tattoos, and rode a motorbike and played guitar. The other was a tall, pale, librarian-type figure, with a voice that as easily terrified as soothed. For more than a decade the pair has been at work, assembling songs of a dark nature, giving refuge to the melancholy, the wanting, and at times, the disturbed. To date four albums have resulted: Surgical Transfusion of Molting Sensory Reflections (2000), Heron Leg (2003), Congenital Fixation (2006), and the Ripple Music released album, Trails out of Gloom (2010).

Their latest masterpiece "Trails out of Gloom", has been critically acclaimed by the media making many Top 20 lists including Heavy Planet's. The band has already released one single from that album called "Find That One". Now the band is releasing their second single off of the album called "Miracle". For a limited time you can watch the video exclusively on Heavy Planet. So without further ado, it is my honor in association with Ripple Music to present the exclusive world premiere video "Miracle" from that brilliant album.

New Video Release: Serpentina Satelite - The Last Drop

SERPENTINA SATELITE was formed by the end of 2003 in Lima, Peru.

Band members are: Aldo
Castillejos (drums)
Felix Dextre (bass/vocals)
Flavio Castillejos (voices/poetry)
Dolmo (leadrhythm guitar)
Renato Gomez (rhythm-lead guitar/vocals)

In late 2004 the band edited independently their first EP named LONG PLAY, featuring 5 epic songs which oscillate among calm, violence and ecstasy, in the spirit of Space and Krautrock. Constant appearances, underground festivals and freak-outs followed during the next years under the cloudy city of Lima. Now, their new record NOTHING TO SAY gets released on TRIP IN TIME (distributed by World in Sound). Again, it is an extended 5 track epic recording but this time, SERPENTINA SATELITE brings us a turbulent and more powerful rough sound. For best listening pleasure, this EP was mastered analogue in Walldorf at Perplex Tonstudio (Guru Guru, Embryo, Kraan).

The epic opener NUEVA OLA takes you right away on a mysterious trip to the satellite’s new musical galaxy. And for the title track NOTHING TO SAY, better fasten your seatbelts—this is a high energy rock & roll freak-out! THE LAST DROP and MADRIPOOR establish the EP's strong overdrive sound before KOMMUNE I, a final 23 minute journey to the roots of psychedelia.

Here is the new video for The Last Drop:

CLUTCH Frontman Talks New Album; Video Available

"Talking Metal" recently conducted an interview with CLUTCH frontman Neil Fallon. Watch the four-minute chat below.

CLUTCH entered Magpie Cage studio in Baltimore, Maryland last month with producer J. Robbins (JAWBREAKER) to begin recording the band's new album for a tentative June 30 release via the group's own label, Weathermaker Music. Bassist Dan Maines recently told The Obelisk, "This [current CLUTCH] tour goes on until the first of March, and we are planning on going into the studio basically a week after that to record the [new] CLUTCH [CD]," he said. "We have about eight songs, or eight song ideas that we're gonna flesh out through this tour and write a couple of new ones on top of that. We're trying to do somewhere around two to three new songs a night and we'll switch them up and just kind of smooth out the rough edges."

CLUTCH released its first-ever live DVD, "Full Fathom Five: Video Field Recordings", on August 12 via the group's newly launched Weathermaker Music label. The band also released a live companion CD, "Full Fathom Five: Audio Field Recordings", on the same day. All tracks on the DVD and CD were recorded and filmed in late 2007 and early 2008 in New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Denver and Australia.

INTRONAUT: 'Australopithecus' Video Preview Available

The wait is finally over as progressive titans INTRONAUT unveil their new album, "Prehistoricisms", to the masses today.

"Prehistoricisms" was engineered by Josh Newell (JANE'S ADDICTION) and will captivate the metal world with its blend of psychedelic brutality, captivating hooks and unpredictable time changes.

An abstract, eye-popping new video for the track "Australopithecus" was directed by Sera Timms (ISIS, PELICAN). A short preview of the clip can be viewed below. Look for the full video to make its online debut sometime next month. Sacha Dunable (vocals, guitar) commented, "We were kind of concerned that a video would come across as cheesy or forced, but Sera made a really elaborate storyline to go along with the very vague lyrical content (quite a feat) and just made this amazing video that we can totally be proud of. We can't wait for [everyone] to see it."

A widget for "Prehistoricisms" is now available (see below) which features two tracks from the album, "Australopithecus" and "The Literal Black Cloud".

Bigelf Releases Video “Money It’s Pure Evil”

If Bigelf’s sound is reminiscent of all that is great about rock n’ roll of yore, their video for “Money It’s Pure Evil” is no different. The video is an over the top narrative story about “two sheep who come to make it big in the city and end up getting swallowed up in the dark side of fame.” it keeping with it’s vintage theme it was also shot on 13mm. I hope you enjoy it!
