HEAVY PLANET EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE OF NEW FEN VIDEO "MIRACLE"

In January of 1998, in the mountain shadows of Nelson, British Columbia, a creatorship was formed between two recluses. One had long hair, strange tattoos, and rode a motorbike and played guitar. The other was a tall, pale, librarian-type figure, with a voice that as easily terrified as soothed. For more than a decade the pair has been at work, assembling songs of a dark nature, giving refuge to the melancholy, the wanting, and at times, the disturbed. To date four albums have resulted: Surgical Transfusion of Molting Sensory Reflections (2000), Heron Leg (2003), Congenital Fixation (2006), and the Ripple Music released album, Trails out of Gloom (2010).

Their latest masterpiece "Trails out of Gloom", has been critically acclaimed by the media making many Top 20 lists including Heavy Planet's. The band has already released one single from that album called "Find That One". Now the band is releasing their second single off of the album called "Miracle". For a limited time you can watch the video exclusively on Heavy Planet. So without further ado, it is my honor in association with Ripple Music to present the exclusive world premiere video "Miracle" from that brilliant album.

Album Of The Week-Viking Skull-"Doom, Gloom, Heartache & Whiskey" (2008)

Sorry I'm a day late with the Album Of The Week, I was out Christmas shopping last night. Anyways, this week's album is cool as fuck. It is the new release "Doom, Gloom, Heartache & Whiskey" by Viking Skull.

Review:

Brawling, ugly biker, art rock-metal might be an oxymoron in some universes but not, thankfully, in ours. And if the description might be a bit flowery it's still fairly accurate for Viking Skull, who on their third album, Doom Gloom Heartache & Whisky, are clearly dedicated to that most noble of goals: riffs that collapse skulls and hooks that roar with swagger. (Given the title, this is truly a stellar example of truth in advertising.) Not to mention solos, because that's what this kind of music best requires, thus the excellent break on "Start a War" — not merely in the heroic mode but the everything-drops-out-except-for-a-dying-burst follow-through. While the template established doesn't really change much at all for the rest of the album — a notable exception being the acoustic guitar start on "Shot Down" a handy break for breath — it's a formula handled well and the band collectively know how to deliver the material. The lead singer's ear for good shout-alongs intriguingly tempered by a tendency to disappear into the mix a bit — he's not commanding the vocals, more urging the music on with them. Any number of subtle nods to classic hard rock and metal abound (and sometimes unsubtle nods, as with the wink-and-nudge reworking of "Iron Man" on "In Hell," but Viking Skull are a band that knows its history and is out to have a lot of fun with it — which they do. (Ned Raggett, All Music Guide)
