New Band To Burn One To-Magnolia (Psychedelic/Blues/Rock)

Hailing from Sweden comes a band with a passion for music from the late sixties and early seventies citing bands such as Cream, Cactus, Black Sabbath, and Grand Funk Railroad as major influences. Their concoction of Blues/Psychedelic is highly contagious. Check them out now!

Review:

Come on now, you can't go far wrong with a band who take their name from an old Blue Cheer song (from their 1968 release, "Outsideinside", the song being 'Magnolia Caboose Babyfinger', fact fans). No, really, you can't. And so it proves to be with this rampaging, fuzz Blues rock gem from Ronny Eriksson and his cohorts.

It's an album drenched in the glorious days of Leaf Hound, Mountain, November and any other band with unfeasibly wide flares and riffs to match. This is an out an dout groove monster from beginning to end, and you can drop the needle anywhere between 'Resa Utan Slut' and 'Vem Bestammer?', and alight on a gem.

Of course, no Blues fuzz rock classic would be complete without a couple of instrumentals and a trombone. And if that's what you're looking for then I will have to point you in the direction of 'Dalslandsk Polska', which is almost as scary as it sounds. Elsewhere, it's a pounding, hypnotic mesh of Blues, jamming and freak outs. Just the way I like it.

Guitarist Ronny Eriksson wrote all nine songs and has recruited a small coterie of talented, like minded folks with drummer Anders "Heda" Hedström turning in an amazing performance, especially on the title track and 'Trollbunden'. Recorded in glorious analogue it thoroughly captures the mood and the vibe of its influences, and is a must have for fans of the genre. (Metal4Lifeblog.blogspot.com)
