Muffalo features Derek Myers (Mondo Generator) guitar and vocals- who is the main force behind the band, Gene Trautmann (Queens of the Stone Age) on drums, and Dean Gunderson (Cat Butt/Jack-o-Fire) on bass. Brett Netson from (Caustic Resin, Mark Lanegan and Built to Spill) also plays on this record.
The legendary Hunt Sales (Iggy Pop and David Bowie's Tin Machine) produced this album and Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers/Sublime) mixed it. Derek Myers was in Mondo Generator form 1997-98 until it's first temporary disbandment in 98 when Nick moved from Austin to LA to join forces with Josh Homme to start the Queens of the Stone Age. Myers has been working on these songs for the past 8 years and consistently collaborated with Trautmann, Gunderson, on several recordings in that time frame. Nick Oliveri recorded one his songs "I Never Sleep" on Mondo Generators last album "Dead Planets" which became the single for that album.
Muffalo performed an official SXSW showcase in Austin in March 2011 and received rave reviews as well as a 9 date tour around that appearance.
Muffalo has a strenuous touring schedule for 2011-2012 throughout Europe, Australia, Japan and the U.S.
"Featuring former members of QOTSA and Mondo Generator, Boise-based band Muffalo create an infectious brand of twangy, moody and hard hitting rock and roll. The lazy hypnotic vocals mesmerize as the guitars punch and drums rattle through ten tasty tracks on their latest album "Love Songs and Battle Hymns" on upstart Buttamilk Records. Tracks such as the laid back "Bleeding Heart", quirky "Chicken Dinner", and western-psyche rocker "Last Night NO BC " shows the bands knack for writing great songs. This is one to definitely check out, that is if you can find it."
