S.I.M.B.’s debut is a solid fuzzy doom album with southern flavour and fat grooves, an intense and immensely memorable ride. “Monday Superblues” features guest appearances from Matt Lynch (Snail), Joey Z (Life Of Agony, Carnivore), Busty (Bastardolomey), Jonathan van der Haak (I-Reject) & more.
The release was recorded by Joey Z at Excess studios in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, with the engineering assistance of Hans Peters. Joey also mixed the record in his NYC studio Method Of Groove. Mastering was done by the US veteran Don Zientara (Fugazi, Bad Brains) at Inner Ear Studios, DC.
As I step in to fill Reg's shoes for today's "New Band To Burn One To", I have chosen an appropriate band from that green and smoke filled pleasant land known as Holland.
S.I.M.B. meaning "Satan is my Bitch" are a Dutch stoner metal quartet that bring with their debut LP "Monday Superblues" 8 thick chunks of chugging low down fuzzed out stoner metal with moments bordering on sludginess and old school doom but with an unmistakable southern flavor piled on with fat and heavy grooves.
Catchy riffs and vocals are launched at our ears with no pretence. These guys don't mess about and are in no way playing half hearted at the stoner metal game. These guys play like they've been around for years and have released numerous albums so it's refreshing to hear a debut as solid as this one. Their delivery is relaxed and confident and each song is played expertly.
I thoroughly enjoyed this first outing from S.I.M.B. along with a big bowl of my favorite green and I'm sure you will to.
