Doesn’t it feel good to stick your face in front of a swirling mass of fuzzed-out, down-tuned noise? Freaking out sound men and women with 150db. That’s what it’s all about.
Elks from London are a rarely seen animal, but when they play it’s loud and it’s heavy. We’re talking heavy in the real sense here. With blues. With intensity. With fucking feeling! Like the greats: Pentagram, The Stooges, Necromandus, Captain Beefheart, Peter Green, Electric Wizard...
This September Elks have released an album recorded live at The Hop as part of the Long Division Festival on the 11th June in Wakefield. The album is free to download from bandcamp and it gives a taste of the band’s third album due in 2012.
"With a raw and grandiose attitude, London-based band Elks crawls deep under your skin with their heavy blues sound. Garaged-out , slithering guitar riffs glide along seemlessly as the steady and somewhat droning rhythm wait the arrival of the enormous chord punches. This live album captures the pure, passionate and energetic sound the band sets out to convey. Beware of the unexpected death vocal! Listen now!"
Nice, simple, cool and great blog post. I like the image also.
