New Band To Burn One To-Sons of Alpha Centauri

The "New Band To Burn One To" today is Sons of Alpha Centauri.

Some of you may or may not be familiar with SOAC. For those of you who are not, ‘Sons of Alpha Centauri’ are a dark instrumental riff rock band from Swale, UK. Since conception in 2001 SOAC linked their music to all visual, photographic and spiritual elements that tide their inspirations and influences.

SOAC have eluded classification by creating vast electronic soundscapes to drive the hypnotic harmonic pulse unique to their epic sound. In 2007 their debut album encapsulating styles from classic rock to avant-garde metal was released on UK based label ‘Sound Devastation Records’.

In 2009 SOAC collaborated with legendary desert instrumentalists ‘Yawning Man’ to form ‘Yawning Sons’. This psychedelic, ambient drone rock trans-Atlantic alliance also included guest vocals from members of the Desert Sessions, Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age. ‘Ceremony to the Sunset’ was released to critical acclaim in July 2009 on ‘Lexicon Devil Records’ Australia.

The second in the chronology of these collaborative releases featured members of riff rock powerhouse ‘Karma to Burn’ and the new West Virginian incarnation ‘Treasure Cat’. The punishing and explosive 11-track ‘Last Day of Summer’ was released worldwide on ‘Underdogma Records’ in August 2009.

In April 2010 Kitchen Dweller Records released a split 7" with SOAC and their long standing friends and collaborators 'Karma to Burn'. Featuring an instrumental version of 'Patty Hearst's Closet Mantra' from the self titled debut KTB album remastered by SOAC and the SOAC track '65 - Conspiracy Theory' exclusively for the release. The vinyl printed is limited to 400 copies on transparent vinyl with artwork from Alex Von Wieding.

In 2010 ‘Sons of Alpha Centauri’ will be composing and recording tracks for the anticipated release of the follow up to their debut album.
