Heavy Planet Thanks You!
At this time, I just wanted to thank all my readers for the tremendous success of Heavy Planet. I started this blog in Jan. 2006 as an all-metal blog but due to my love of Stoner Rock and Doom, I decided to change the format in 2008 as a platform to feature for the most part unsigned stoner, doom, desert, psychedelic, post-rock, grunge, you name it bands primarily to get their music heard by the masses. Over the course of those past 3-plus years Heavy Planet has gone through many design changes, format changes, features, etc. One feature has remained a Heavy Planet original and that would be the "New Band To Burn One To" feature. This little feature alone has featured over 300 bands. Hopefully some of those bands created new fans, sold more CDs, got signed, etc. Last month was the first time that this little blog surpassed the 10,000 unique visitor plateau which fails in comparison to blogs such as The Obelisk, Doommantia, and Sludge Swamp, but I am very proud nonetheless. Not bad for someone that did most evrrything on this blog for the better part of 3 years and for that I thank you!
A few months back I was actually contemplating the thought of shutting down the blog because I just was getting overwhelmed by the amount of band submissions, and frankly the competition. That is when I asked for a bit of help. Bill from The Soda Shop offered his assistance on the NBTBOT feature and now we work together finding new bands for you guys and girls to enjoy as much as we do. It is great to know that there are people out there that are as passionate about music as I am. Thanks so much for your help Bill, I look forward to a ton of collaborations in the coming year. Recently I added a few more reviewers to the HP staff. From time to time you will see reviews from Toby, The Klepto, and Zac. Each has a different style and are all a great fit for Heavy Planet. If you are interested in writing reviews contact me at email@example.com. The more the merrier, right?
Once again, I thank all of you because without you there would be no Heavy Planet.
