Sixty Watt Shaman to Debut New Material and You're All Invited
If you live within driving distance of Baltimore, Maryland then get off your ass and come party with some of the East Coast's heaviest hitters tomorrow night at Metro Gallery.
Come see the legendary Sixty Watt Shaman debut long awaited new jams alongside well known classics.
Co-headlining the evening will be another stoner rock legend, Dave Sherman, and his latest outlet for grooves and ganja, Weed is Weed.
And don't be late, because the riff slinging starts early when local boys (and girl) Foghound take the stage, followed by sets from Washington DC's Borracho, and Volume IV all the way from Atlanta, Georgia.
The heavy is happening in Baltimore on Saturday night. See you there!

Zac's "Double Dose": Big Wheel Stunt Show / Nightosaur
Finally, another excellent concept album! I live for these, so without further ado Heavy Planet presents... Big Wheel Stunt Show and thier latest release Wonderful LIFE. Native to Tacoma, Washington this quartet combines the love for funk and traditional blues with a whole lotta soul. If you're looking for an operatic narrative that hits the lines with psychedelic rock, heavy blues, and a good dose of organ Big Wheel Stunt Show is your band and Wonderful LIFE is your album. The story is told from birth, beginning with the cry of our main character's infancy, through aging, alien abduction, and finally the after-life. Check out the video for Bad Thing below and get a copy here.

History states they've been extinct some 65 million years. Don't buy it, because there are a few roaming the terrain under the moon-lit sky of Minnesota and recently reared its ugly Tricera-head on Heavy Planet's Smoke Out Sunday. The beast I speak of is no other than Nightosaur who've come to crush your skull with their sophmore release Spaceaxers. The band desribes the sound as dino sludge and fossil rock, which is exactly what you're going to find... mammoth riffs, thunderous drums, and sharp hooks. Something about it all together feels very ancient. Check out my favorite track is Too Far South For Muntiny below... an angry and fast paced jam telling the story of a mutinous voyage to the south. The track There May Be Dragons, the single featured on Smoke Out Sunday, is available for free here and if that doesn't get you a fix the entire album can be downloaded on iTunes, Spotify, and all the expected online stores.
**Andy Webber, lead guitarist, custom manufactures Nightosaur's guitars under the name Whale Hazard Unlimited, something completely awesome and should be noted**

Stoner Rock Ohio Throws a Party
Stoner Rock Ohio is proud to present the second Annual Stoner Rock Ohio Showcase. On June 13, 2009, at the Hi-Fi Club in Cleveland, Ohio, four bands are ready to smoke the Lake. Come and check out sets from FIREBREATHING BEAR, SPACECHARGE, THREEFOLD LAW, and FORGED IN FLAME. The show is FREE with a printed flyer from their website.
You can support Buckeye State stoner rock in two ways. Stoner Rock Ohio is offering a live “bootleg” sampler. You get one song from each band’s set for just $5.00. In addition, every purchase enters you in a drawing to win the newest release from each band.
If you’d like to get some cheap advertising, become an online sponsor. For $10.00, you get listed on their web pages, promo materials, and more. They have almost 6,000 hits on the MySpace profile.
All profits from the sampler and online sponsorship go directly to the bands. They’re putting the pay back in the pockets of the musicians, where it’s supposed to be. Head over to their sites for more details on the sampler, sponsorship, or to print out a flyer to get you in the door for FREE.

YOB Announces Reunion Gig
Doom metal giants YOB will celebrate their reunion with a special concert on February 28 at The Ash Street Saloon in Portland, Oregon with support from THE IOMMI STUBBS and BROTHERS OF THE SONIC CLOTH (featuring the legend himself Tad Doyle). One can only expect something of the most epic nature, since pretty much a YOB gig is an event in itself. The band is also trudging away on the material for their anticipated new album, which is shaping up to be the most monumental and crushing YOB material to date.
As of now, the band plan on entering the studio late March with the mighty Sanford Parker at the helm with the goal to get this monolithic piece of doom out this summer via Profound Lore Records.
As for the new material, mastermind Mike Scheidt had this to say about it: "The newest material is such a trip, I don't know how exactly to describe it. We have one song that is maybe the most brutal thing I have written ala 'Grasping Air/Exorcism Of The Host'. But more brutal, and painful. We have another new tune that is very melodic in a weird way, almost poppy, but driving almost like some of the material from that 'other band'. With strangeness that is hard to convey. The final 'epic' song (that is 16 minutes so far and definitely NOT done) is like a mix of the song 'Catharsis' and 'The Unreal Never Lived...' big clean guitar intro, big slow melodic riffs, patient big builds that explode... it's going to be huge. It's also going to be an immense challenge to keep this album in the 60-minute mark. Five songs total. Lots of clean singing. Still lots of screams and death roars too."

Cleveland Metallers ABDULLAH Say Farewell
John Benson of The Plain Dealer reports that long-running Cleveland metallers are somewhere between calling it quits and taking a long hiatus in order to allow Jeff Shirilla to concentrate on new project THIS IS ANTARCTICA. ABDULLAH — Shirilla, Alan Seibert (guitar), Aaron Dallison (guitar), Ed Stephens (bass) and Kevin Latchaw (drums) — has planned a farewell show this weekend.
"Yeah, I didn't want to make too much hubbub about it," Shirilla said. "We're all kind of involved in different projects now, so we thought it would be a good idea to put ABDULLAH on hold for a while. We had a good run and it just seems like we've been in a little bit of a rut, so why not have one last bash. I'm ready to move forward with a new band."

Bible of the Devil Announces CD Release Show
Saturday, December 6, Bible of the Devil will celebrate the release of their fifth full-length effort, Freedom Metal (Cruz Del Sur Music). And what better way to do so than with a FREE show in their hometown of Chicago!
Saturday, December 6
9 pm sharp - FREE (21 and over)
Cobra Lounge
235 N. Ashland, Chicago, IL
Bible of the Devil (Chicago Twin-V Air Superiority Rock)
Midnight (evil incarnate from Cleveland, members Boulder and Destructor)

BOTD will also have on hand new copies of the long-awaited “The Auld Dirt Road”/”False Dreams” split 7" single with Valkyrie (Heavy Birth Records), and an array of new merch.
Some early reviews of Freedom Metal:
"...Guitarist-vocalists Mark Hoffmann and Nate Perry, drummer Greg Spalding and bassist Darren Amaya are the real deal, synthesizing a wide array of classic-metal influences, attacking them with a modern stoner-rock/doom attitude and delivering the head-banging goods stronger than ever with songs such as `Hijack the Night` and `The Turning Stone` from the new album Freedom Metal."
- Jim DeRogatis, Chicago Sun-Times
"A couple years ago, I implied that BOTD had achieved their Stained Class with The Diabolic Procession. This is the album that may, years from now, have another band achieving their Freedom Metal."
- Ray Dorsey, Ray`s Chaos Realm

Sons of Otis To Play One Last Toronto Show
From Sons of Otis:
One more time Toronto... Sept.28 at The Elmo (upstairs), 10 pm sharp!
Do to the lame turnouts at shows in this town (10 - 20 people), we have decided if only 10 cats want to see us play, then they can come to our studio and watch us jam! We`ve been doing this for 16 years and we don`t need the hassles from shit clubs anymore! We`re not kidding - that`s it!
We are not breaking up since we have a new CD coming out, but it`s just not worth playing out in this town anymore! If something special comes up, we`ll see! We would rather play in the US or Europe! Thanks for your support!
