New Band To Burn One To - Mendozza

As also seen on The Soda Shop

Today's New band To Burn One to is Mendozza
Mendozza’s relocation to the desolate remoteness on Canada’s Vancouver I sland is evident on their 2010 release of CABRA NOCHE. Their sound has been molded by the dark, solitude of their surroundings. Crafting the album during 2009 took place in a small cabin lit by oil lamps and powered by generators. Many winter storms pounded the island with relentless rain and darkness and forced the trio into seclusion. The result is CABRA NOCHE. A howling groove storm rolling over everything and crunching forward one slow step at a time. The heaving breath of low end bass and guitars combined with Bina’s “laid back percussive artillery” of the drums, pound like the waves of the pacific, eroding the shoreline. Deuce’s vocals have been described “like he’s delivering his vox through a cloud of dopesmoke from beyond.” Mendozza’s sound gets a bit of a tweak as they hit Sharkbite Studios in Oakland California. Billy Anderson’s rolling low end, California crust sound combined with Adam Myatts resin soaked fingers and sci-fi knob twiddling are the wizards behind the soundboard. This heavy groove album will take you “back to the 70’s when everyone was stoned and liked their music slow and evil.” I t will make you drink beer and dance and is worthy of a record burning at the community church. Devoted Mendozza fans are worldwide with the help of the release of their song “Eternal Battle” on the Underworld I I Soundtrack in January 2006. They’ve been honing their seedy craft for 5 years now, sharing stages with Soilent Green, Jucifer, High on Fire, Kalas, Dixie Witch, 3 I nches of Blood, SNFU, Pride Tiger, Zimmers Hole, Bison BC and countless others.
Holy fuck is this band heavy as sin. It brings a whole new meaning to all that is heavy. "A powerful sludge-hammer with nice melodic lead work, where Sabbath riffs meet the power of High On Fire" "a goddamn heavy doom rocker, everything is destroyed! Sounds like Down with Crowbar and Eye Hate God together! Killer!!" Honestly I could type in here word after word to describe these guys, and gal, but it wouldn't do any justice.
