Los Angeles, CA - Alive Records will release the new album by southern punk-ass blues duo Black Diamond Heavies on June 10. Titled A Touch of Someone Else`s Class, the band recorded the album with producer Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys at his Akron Analog studio.
Black Diamond Heavies are a two-piece consisting of John Wesley Myers on bass keys, fender Rhodes, organ, and vocals (left hand of rhythm, right hand of soul) and Van Campbell completing the lineup on drums and vocals. A family pedigree that has Myers` father a Baptist preacher and Campbell coming from a family of bourbon distillers (seriously, "Old Rip Van Winkle"), the Heavies are about nothing but pounding out their raucous punk take on the blues and soul, southern style.
Their critically lauded debut Alive Records release, Every Damn Time, was hailed by NME as "damn brilliant…a fabulous debut" as well as "an impressive set of messed-up 21st century blues" by All Music Guide. On the road for the better part of a year, the duo has performed several times throughout the U.S. and Europe. The band is currently touring the States through April, then head back overseas performing in the UK, Ireland, France and Spain.
The CD version of A Touch of Someone Else`s Class comes with two different covers; one featuring John`s keyboards and the other Van`s drum kit. The CD version will also include one bonus track not included on the LP. The initial pressing of the vinyl version comes in RED and is limited to 500 copies.
