The Heavy Planet Experience

Hi! For many of you this may be the first time visiting Heavy Planet, for others, visiting Heavy Planet may be a daily ritual. Either way we want to make sure that you enjoy the entire Heavy Planet Experience. Since 2008, Heavy Planet has been somewhat of a launching pad for some of the best independent and unsigned bands from around the world. Bands have been seen worldwide on such features as "New Band To Burn One To", "Seth's Sunday Sludge", "Zac's Double Dose" and the newly formed "Nuclear Dog's Atomic Split". These fine features plus album reviews, interviews, etc. are archived for your your convenience and can be found using the drop down box on the upper left-hand side of the page.

Recently, we have created a Facebook page of an ongoing playlist of both new and old music simply known as Heavy Planet Radio. This a great place to find and listen to new bands or classic bands you may have never heard of or many of the popular bands you are familiar with. If you like to discover new music I highly suggest "tuning in". A new show called "Smoke Out Sundays" is broadcast every Sunday morning and features seven amazing new bands each week and is hosted by yours truly.

We are very passionate about what we do here at Heavy Planet and we hope you enjoy what we do. We will continue to strive to make this one of the best places to find Stoner Rock, Doom, Sludge, and Psychedelic bands on the Planet. Stay tuned...

To further your Heavy Planet Experience, we extend an invitation to "like" both the Official Heavy Planet Facebook page and the Ultimate Stoner/Doom Playlist Heavy Planet Radio.

Thanks for visiting Heavy Planet!

Across Tundras Posts New Music

Across Tundras just posted two new tracks at www.myspace.com/acrosstundras.

These are the first recordings with the "Nashville Sound," aka "The Dixie Earthmovers" providing a killer rhythm section! One of these tunes will end up on a split 7" with fellow sonic rockers US Christmas. The rest of the songs from these sessions will be self released on a CD called Herds of the Fathomless Valleys that should be out in March.

The band`s May Midwestern tour is being booked with good buddies Admiral Browning, dubbed "The Sarsaparilla Roadshow." Stay tuned for venues and dates coming soon!

SEVENTH VOID: New Music Posted Online

SEVENTH VOID, the new band formed by TYPE O NEGATIVE guitarist Kenny Hickey and drummer Johnny Kelly, has posted several new tracks on its MySpace page.

SEVENTH VOID recently completed work on its debut album for a tentative March/April 2009 release through Big Vin Records, the label formed by HELLYEAH/ex-PANTERA drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott. "It's an amazing record," Vinnie recently said. "I mixed the whole thing for the guys. It goes somehere between SOUNDGARDEN meets BLACK SABBATH meets a little AUDIOSLAVE, with some TYPE O thrown in there. It's really nice, dark, sludgy… Kenny's vocals are great."

Rounded out by bassist Hank Hell (INHUMAN) and guitarist Matt Brown (ex-SUPERMASSIV), SEVENTH VOID continues TYPE O's tradition of slow, heavy riffs and existential lyrics, but with a slightly sludgier, "stonier" flavor.
