Legendary U.S. doom metal band SAINT VITUS played a sold-out show at One Eyed Jacks in New Orleans this past Saturday night (April 11). They were joined on stage by DOWN's Pepper Keenan, Jimmy Bower and Philip Anselmo for the chorus to "Saint Vitus" and Anselmo returned to sing the chorus to "Dying Inside". Also on the bill were A HANGING and HAWG JAW.

CANDLEMASS: New Photos From The Studio Posted Online

New photos of Swedish doom legends CANDLEMASS in the recording studio have been posted online at this location.

CANDLEMASS recently spent time in the studio recording a new EP, "Lucfer Rising", for a tentative early October release via Nuclear Blast Records. It will include two brand new tracks — "Lucifer Rising" and "The White God" — plus re-recorded version of "Demon's Gate" live in the studio. As a bonus, you will get an audio recording of most of last year's gig from Athens, Greece: "At The Gallows End", "Solitude", "Emperor Of The Void", "Devil Seed", "Under The Oak", "Mirror Mirror", "Of Stars And Smoke", "Black Dwarf" and "Samarithan".

A new CANDLEMASS album will be recorded in the fall for a spring 2009 release.

This past Saturday I attended the Rockstar Mayhem Festival at the Post-Gazette Pavillion in Burgettstown, Pa. My friend Sue and I were in the pit and she captured some pretty cool pics. MONSTER MAGNET At Germany's SOUTHSIDE FESTIVAL; Photos Available

Laut.de has uploaded high-quality photos of MONSTER MAGNET's June 21, 2008 performance at the Southside Festival in Neuhausen ob Eck, Germany. Check them out at this location. MONSTER MAGNET's latest album, "4-Way Diablo", entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 81. The CD, which was produced by Matt Hyde and features a cover version of THE ROLLING STONES' "2,000 Light Years from Home", previously landed on the Swedish chart at No. 51. The album sold 1,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

DOWN: Video Footage, Photos From Milan Concert Available

Fan-filmed video footage of DOWN's April 22, 2008 concert at Alcatraz in Milan, Italy can be viewed below.

Photos from the sold-out show are available on Musica Metal.

Before the concert, a 50-minute video was projected on the club's walls, showing DOWN in backstage footage intercut with a selection of vintage music videos of the likes of TED NUGENT and AC/DC. The backstage footage is described by Musica Metal as in the vein of classic PANTERA DVD "Vulgar Videos", with crazy hotel room antics and practical jokes on the crew. It is not presently clear if any of this footage will end up on the upcoming DOWN DVD.

As previously reported, TROUBLE is booking dates for a West Coast tour beginning on April 30 in Las Vegas with a worldwide live Internet broadcast from the DeepRockDrive studios. The band will be touring in support of its newest release, "Simple Mind Condition", which is scheduled to receive its long-awaited U.S. release this month on the Escapi Music label.

The follow-up to 1995's "Plastic Green Head", "Simple Mind Condition" was produced by Vinny Wojno (KREATOR, MACHINE HEAD) and features vocalist Eric Wagner, guitarists Rick Wartell and Bruce Franklin, drummer Jeff Olson and bassist Chuck Robinson (formerly of THIS TORTURED SOUL).

Escapi Music reissued TROUBLE's classic first two albums, "Psalm 9" (1984) and "The Skull" (1985), on October 24, 2006. Both were digitally remastered and are packed with rare photos and brand new liner notes. "Psalm 9" includes an extremely rare exclusive bonus DVD of a public-access TV performance from 1982. "The Skull" comes with an extremely rare exclusive bonus DVD of a 16-track live performance from 1984.

MASTODON Performs At U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships; Photos Available

As BLABBERMOUTH.NET first reported on March 18, MASTODON was one of the scheduled performers at the finals of the U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships at Stratton Mountain in Vermont.

The 26th annual competition bills itself as "the Most Righteous Snowboarding Battle of the Ages," according to The Associated Press. It includes under-the-tent jousting demonstrations and features halfpipe, slopestyle and big air events.

This year, NBC televised the finals, on tape delay, on Sunday, March 23.
