BAND BIO:

Bottlecap plays "juicy, in-your-face rock with a touch of ADHD." They do it hard, they do it funny, and they are chewing the stage floor like there's no freaking tomorrow.

Bottlecap was formed in Gothenburg in the fall of 2008 by The Three Musketeers: Johan Reiman, Gustav Pahlsson, and Marcus Nilsson. After two years filled with live shows and podium finishes in contests around the Gothenburg area, the band had found their genre and sharpened their live performances like deadly knives. It was time for the next step. During the fall of 2011,the single "Mind Box" was released and it was followed-up by a three-week tour of Sweden.

With a backpack full of new material, Bottlecap started working on their debut album in February 2012. After several months of hard (but satisfying) work, the self-titled album was released on vinyl and CD in the fall of 2012 by Muther Music.

With a hysterical amount of energy, Bottlecap delivers a ruthless live experience that leaves audiences kicking and screaming for more. Time and time again.

THOUGHTS:

Whether you're 17 or 77, these Swedes are gonna make you feel old. Bottlecap burn clean and bluesy on Set Me On Fire and keep tight hold of your balls throughout the ten remaining tracks. This sound could've been recorded in a seedy campus kitchen as you knock over beer cans. The layered cat-call vocals perfectly complement the gruff lead, while the fuzzy, furry Zeppelin-esque Shake My Hand is pluck/plod dynamite. Balancing clean guitars with psych-fuzz chewiness, this is one jammy sleepover cruiser, breaking buzzing stoner madness with low basslines and trailer-park guitars. 

You'll find elements of smoky garage fuzz, but the puddle-sizzles capture the band at their juiciest. And Bottlecap have struck fucking gold with Wretches, likely the greatest third-gear stoner "whoo-woo" track laid to tape. Forget the ins and outs of songcraft and metal scapegoats, these Swedes have discovered a formula more enjoyable than any words any asshole could lay down as he tells you what's good and what's not. Hit the skins, hit that shit, and hit play. Bottlecap's youthful exuberance is here to crack you out of your straight life and get the knees jumpin'.

The "New Band To Burn One To" today is The Fat Dukes of Fuck from Las Vegas, Nevada.

"The Fat Dukes of Fuck: A general synopsis-

When one thinks of Las Vegas, the first things that come to mind are drugs, booze, long nights full of debauchery and unthinkable acts of sexual exploits. The Fat Dukes of Fuck embrace all of these things and look only to provide a soundtrack for the local scum that inhabits the filthy desert that is Las Vegas, Nevada.

And now for a little history:

Two-thirds of this pounding fuck-punch hail from the steaming cesspools of Salem, Oregon. Ice Pube (guitar) and Shitwizard (throat), longtime friends and founding members of The Salem Drunkcore scene, joined forces and set out for a place where there is no last-call. Meanwhile, the Ragin’ Cajun, Rockin’ Ronnie Rad Stuff (bass) was relocating from Lafayette, Louisiana on his never ending quest for love. The three teamed up and said “fuck it, we don’t need a drummer.” The rest, as they say, is history.

These metal retards, who suck inspiration from such unlikely heroes as The Melvins, Ween, Ministry, Faith No More and Clutch to name a few, have been performing their red-blooded, crotch tingling live shows in the local gin-joints for anyone who will buy them a Jack & Coke. Their song “Please Don’t Feed the Animals” was recently chosen to be featured in the upcoming independent film One Long Day.

Cable, Slacks, Cargocult Members Form New Band

Randy Larsen of the highly influential noise rock band CABLE has begun writing material for his new project, RL & THE EMPTY FLOWERS. Larsen looks to head into Super 8 Studios by late summer or early fall depending upon scheduling it out between him and the band. Promising to be a drastic departure from his previous work he has enlisted Matt Futoma (drums and percussion) of Connecticut’s THE CARGO CULT REVIVAL along with SLACKS Mick Mullin (engineer, acoustic and electric guitar) and Christian McKenna (vocals and keys) to fill out the lineup. Initial songs will be structured around Larsen’s loose/primal ideas and left free for interpretation from THE EMPTY FLOWERS. Several guests will drop in for various songs… expect to hear new music within the year.

Crustacean Records Announces New Signees

Crustacean Records is delighted to announce the addition of four more bands to its stable of musical artists, THE SKULLCRANES and 20 DOLLAR LOVE from the Twin Cities, BLOODCOW from Omaha, Nebraska, and IMPERIAL BATTLESNAKE from Chicago, Illinois. THE SKULLCRANES and 20 DOLLAR LOVE will be releasing new full-length records on Crustacean in the first half of 2009, and BLOODCOW and IMPERIAL BATTLESNAKE are recording this summer for new albums to come out late in 2009 or early in 2010 on Crustacean Records.

All four acts were part of Round 13 Records, a now defunct collective record label run by the its own musical artists, along with well-tenured Crustacean riff masters, DROIDS ATTACK, who called Round 13 their second home. Like DROIDS ATTACK, all four new additions to the roster exist in a heavy musical realm drawing on elements for metal, punk and generalized ass kicking rock and roll.

New Band To Burn One To-Sun Gods In Exile

Happy Thanksgiving! Today I have a terrific "New Band To Burn One To". They are called Sun Gods In Exile. The band hails from Portland, Maine and features members of Cortez, Ocean, Black Apple and Supersoul Challenger.

"Huge rock blending Southern Rock, Classic Hard Rock, New wave of British heavy metal, Stoner Rock and Blues bleeding through loud as fuck Marshall Stacks!!"

The band for those of you unfamiliar were at one time called Burnt Orange, but to eliminate confusion with the boy/emo band with the same name, decided to just change their name.

The band is currently set to hit Mad Oak Studios the first week of December to record 9 new blazing tracks.

Mad Oak is owned by their good friend Craig Riggs (Roadsaw, Antler..) and the record will be engineered by Benny Grotto who has done some bad ass work with Roadsaw, Dixie Witch, Solace, Ironweed, A Thousand Knives of Fire just to name a few.

New Band To Burn One To-Mothercow

After hearing the first song "Shotgun Bullets" on Brazilian band Mothercow's MySpace page, the influences were very obvious. The band kicks you in the fuckin' head with their wicked southern-tinged original blend of heavy rock. Mix in a bit of rock-n-roll, country music and groove thrash and there you have it, pure listening enjoyment.

For fans of Pantera, Black Sabbath, Black Label Society, Down, etc.

"Second Gear Grind was formed in early 2005 when friends Mike and Steven (formerly of PTHC band Subsidence) sought to smash the South Island rock scene with a new brand of fuzz drenched rock which was previously lacking in the area. Second Gear Grind gigged steadily earning support and momentum as one of the country's leading fuzz rock acts, playing alongside The House of Capricorn, Slavetrader, and Soulseller among many others throughout many cities in Aotearoa culminating in December's EYES OF THE SOUTH - Stoner Rock Fest at Christchurch's infamous Jetset Lounge. Despite various line up readjustments and reformations the band are settling into a groove and vastly developing support within the rising NZ stoner scene. New Band To Burn One To-Mighty High

Are you looking for some ass-kicking classic-rock inspired punk/stoner/metal with a lot of cowbell? Well, you have come to the right place. As stated on the band's MySpace page, "Mighty High is a classic-rock inspired punk/metal band from Brooklyn, NY dedicated to getting loaded and playing loud."

The band has been together for 5 years and just recently released their debut album "...In Drug City" on their own label Mint Deluxe Tapes. The album features 12 drug-induced slabs of punk rock mayhem. Combining the stage energy of hardcore punk rock legends Black Flag with the classic rock riffs of Grand Funk Railroad, the band's overall sound can be best described as "Black Flag Railroad".

It is really hard to say which songs on the album really stand out, because they are all really fun to listen to. I must have listened to the album at least 4 times in a row. The songs are catchy and melodic, yet heavy enough to feel like you just got kicked in the skull. But if I were to point out a few, I would have to say "I Live To Get High", "Hooked On Drugs", and "Stone Gett-Off".

One interesting thing to note about the band was that the band was formed and named without singer/guitarist Woody High even knowing how to play a single note.

The band has toured extensively with the likes of Mess With The Bull, Puny Human, and most notably the only band to ever share the stage with Thor and Valient Thorr.

So now do yourself a favor, go burn one and check this band out!
