Song of the Day - Pieces of Molly - "Vultures"

Today's song of the day is called "Vultures" and it's a rip-roaring, fuzz fueled kick in the head courtesy of a New Zealand based band called Pieces of Molly. You can check out their debut on Bandcamp, but this track is from a forthcoming EP...release date unknown. We'll keep you posted once more details are available on that one, but in the meantime dig this little piece of badassery.

Song of the Day-Dront-"Poxa Dronka"

"Poxa Dronka" is taken from the band's latest 3-song EP titled "Is Dead". From the first note this song grabs hold with it's fusion of fuzzy tone, head-banging rhythm and punkish mentality. Yet another fine stoner rock entry from Sweden. For more information, please check out the following links: Facebook | Bandcamp

Song of the Day-Egypt-"The Tomb"

"The Tomb" is taken from the band's latest release "Endless Flight". No unnecessary adjectives are needed, just let the fuzz and riffs consume you. For more information, please check out the following links: Facebook | Bandcamp

Song of the Day-Bong of Cthulhu-"Blazar"

"Blazar" is taken from the band's latest self-titled full-length opus. Why mess with a good thing? This tune is nothing but 9-plus minutes of smoke-saturated mid-paced stoner doom riffing. For more information, please check out the following links: Facebook | Bandcamp

Song of the Day-Beesus-"Sonic Doom/Stoner Youth

"Sonic Doom/Stoner Youth" is taken from the band's upcoming full-length release "The Rise of Beesus" due out December 17, 2015 on New Sonic Records/Goodfellas Records. By combining elements of nineties indie noise and stoner doom, this song possesses a thirst for a more current sound by weaving hypnotic bass lines, barking vocals and a bunch of riffs that burst through the pillowing haze of smoke. Song of the Day-Toke-"Winter Wizard"

"Winter Wizard" is taken off of the band's self-titled 6-song EP release. Ah-heh, ah-heh, ah-heh...excuse me while I clear through the smoke-filled haze and bash my skull to this fuzz-filled Stoner Doom riff fest. Thick groove and harsh but fitting vocal complete this raw example of aural debauchery. Fire one up! For more information, please check out the following links: Facebook | Bandcamp

Song of the Day-Charles Bradley-"Changes"

"Changes" was originally released as a vinyl exclusive from Record Store Day Black Friday 2013 and now a video has been made for the song. I know what you all are thinking. What in the hell is going on? This isn't heavy. But to the contrary, it is so freakin' heavy. The emotion that is poured into this amazing heavy soul version of Black Sabbath's ballad from the 1974 album "Vol. 4" is maybe one of the finest Sabbath covers I have ever heard. I have always been a fan of heavy music, but I am also a fan of music that is delivered with an unbridled passion. It is called soul for a reason people and currently Charles Bradley is one of the most celebrated singers in the genre. His raspy tone and somberness brought a tear to my eye and a chill down my spine.

Song of the Day-Erudite Stoner-"Roads To Somewhere"

"Roads To Somewhere" is taken off of the band's latest self-titled release. As I perused the bandcamp site today I was looking for something maybe a little different. I came across this band with a unique name of Erudite (meaning: having or showing great knowledge or learning) Stoner. I was looking for something that I could chill out to but was still "heavy" in it's own certain way. I for one love acoustic guitar and this was perfect. The song's heaviness lies in it's somber mood and opens up a vast world of emotion and fascinating beauty. For more information, please check out the following links: Bandcamp

Song of the Day-Blacksmith-"Smoke Wizard"

"Smoke Wizard" is taken off of the band's self-titled debut release. This song is the perfect lead track to an album filled awesome 70's inspired classic metal meets 80's power metal. Throw in some NWOBHM, high-octave vocals, sing along choruses and a bevy of red hot guitar soloing and you have one hell of a debut. Very promising. Song of the Day-Laserdrift-"Cosmic Getaway"

"Cosmic Getaway" is taken off of the band's recently released self-titled debut album. This tune is a super mellow, groovy, and hypnotic fuzz-filled journey that transcends the outer limits and beyond while leaving a trail of cosmic dust in it's wake. Song of the Day-Captives of the Void - "Ring Around the Sun"

"Ring Around the Sun" is a bit of a teaser track as what is yet to come from what is apparently a two-man band from Yorkshire, UK. I woke up this morning, opened my e-mail and clicked play on the video. What I heard next was a great all-instrumental track of delicious stoner rock groove. Bluesy, hypnotic and tripped-out to say the least. Hope to hear some new tracks from these two gents in the near future. For more information, please check out the following links: Facebook

Song of the Day-Earth Drive-"Standing Stone"

"Standing Stone" is taken off of the latest 5-song EP "Planet Mantra" out now on Raging Planet. As you prepare for lift off, a warm guitar tone and infectious riff immediately set the stage. The tension mounts as a hypnotic, hard-driving stoner rock groove, high soaring female vocal and intense melody blast you into a cosmic dimension. Song of the Day-King Ghidora-"Dust"

"Dust" is taken off of the first release from this band consisting of members from Tricorn, Contra, Dragon Eye Morrison and Arcachnotaur. With doomy layering and nineties grunge influences, this song weaves in and out of your psyche with strong melody, intricate beauty and unbridled passion. I dig it! Song of the Day-Chrome Over Brass-"Elephants Never Forget"

"Elephants Never Forget" is taken off of the recent self-titled release out now on Deathwish, Inc. Chrome Over Brass is the brainchild of Alex Garcia-Rivera. This song is a quick introduction to the insanely wild and technical precision that melds various levels of heaviness based off of drum riffs. Spanning a wide range of genres from raging stoner metal lunacy to seventies proto-psych rock, this is one trip you will want to take for sure. Song of the Day-Marant-"Kathy's Trophy"

"Kathy's Trophy" is taken off of the band's new full-length release "High Octane Diesel". Full head-on stoner rock with a no-nonsense attitude is what this band is all about. This song's hard-driving rhythm, gassed-up groove and supercharged fuzz are meant to be played at a loud volume. So what are you waiting for? For more information, please check out the following links: Facebook | Bandcamp

Song of the Day-The Black Wizards-"Lake of Fire"

"Lake of Fire" is taken of the latest full-length release of the same name. Starting off with a furious drum beat, this song is a raging psychedelic freak out of scorching guitar wizardry, classic heavy rock thunder, fuzzy riffing and an impassioned bluesy female vocal. Some pretty killer shit right here. For more information, please check out the following links: Facebook | Bandcamp

Song of the Day-Thunderwhip-"High On the Mountain"

"High On the Mountain" is taken off of the band's 4-song demo "Bloodsucker". On this track, this 3-piece from Denmark delivers a thunderous right hook of huge and fuzzy vintage stoner metal riffage. The tune is solidified by a big and burly vocal, a cool clap along rhythm and a laid back groove. For more information, please check out the following links: Facebook | Bandcamp

Song of the Day-The Black Guild-"Figure It Out"

"Figure It Out" is taken off of the band's self-titled full-length debut release. This song oozes with elements of classic hard rock, southern rock swagger and a blues appeal. Add to that a gritty, rough around the edges vocal and a pedal to the metal hammond organ grind and you have one hell of a good thing going. This is just some damn good time, beer chuggin' rock n' roll. For more information, please check out the following links: Facebook | Bandcamp

Song of the Day-Matte Black-"Dust of This Planet"

"Dust of This Planet" is taken off of the latest full-length release of the same name. I'm in a bit of a chilled mood today and for that reason I have chosen this exquisite piece of work. This song from this Brooklyn 3-piece is a despondent dirge of deep and somber melody, slow and brooding rhythm and a heaviness that crushes your psyche. Song of the Day-Burn Thee Insects-"Hydroponics"

"Hydroponics" is taken off of the upcoming release "Droid Intelligence" due out December 12, 2015 on Twin Earth Records. With a nasally drawn out vocal in similarity to Layne Staley from Alice in Chains, an over abundance of heavily fuzzed-out riffing, and an ethereal drone, this song is a nebulous jaunt through a hazy and starry sky. You will never feel the same again. The fuzz is abuzz! For more information, please check out the following links: Facebook | Bandcamp
