Early Man News
Early Man is back in the studio, currently working on their long-awaited sophomore full-length with Jack Endino (High on Fire, Zeke, Valient Thorr, Nirvana). The still-untitled album - the follow up to the band`s critically-acclaimed 2005 debut Closing In (Matador) - will be released by The End Records in early 2009. Early Man - guitarist/vocalist Mike Conte, drummer Adam Bennati, guitarist Pete Macy, and bassist Tim Ramage - are keeping fans updated on their progress in the studio at this location.
In anticipation of the release of the forthcoming album, Early Man will be hitting the road for some dates out west with 3 Inches of Blood and Toxic Holocaust.

Early Man Returns
Early Man has returned with Beware the Circling Fin, their first release since 2005`s acclaimed Closing In. Beware The Circling Fin, the band`s first release for The End Records, was mixed with the help of legendary producer Jack Endino (Nirvana, Mudhoney, Dwarves, High On Fire).
Beware The Circling Fin`s lead cut, a raging thrasher called "Sinking The Blade," is available for download from MetalSucks.net.
MetalSucks also interviewed Early Man frontman Mike Conte about the downfall of Neanderthals (`they were too intense to last long`), Metalocalypse (`so on point it`s sometimes not even funny`), and where metal went wrong (`it didn`t`). Read the entire interview at MetalSucks.

EARLY MAN: New EP Details Revealed
EARLY MAN returns next month with "Beware The Circling Fin", the band's first release since 2005's "Closing In". The group's The End Records debut was mixed with the help of legendary producer Jack Endino and will be available October 14.
The EP's title track was inspired by Paul Watson and his organization, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Sea Shepherd activists endorse a deliberate policy of sinking or sabotaging vessels they believe have violated international whaling laws. Sea Shepherd members are known to call themselves "eco-pirates."
EARLY MAN frontman Mike Conte explains his fascination with Watson and Sea Shepherd: "It was brought to my attention [that] Paul Watson was regularly engaged in campaigns, often in the deep sea, where he was taking direct action against illegal whaling/shark finning/seal clubbing, etc. What stood out to me was that he was sometimes going as far as ramming illegal whaling/fishing vessels, occasionally even sinking them.
"This isn't some passive hippy fuck with a 'save the whales' bumper sticker on his Volkswagen or some naive college kid with a clipboard trying to sign people up for a pointless march or walkathon or some bullshit. This guy was like 'I'm going to raise money to buy a boat and then go out into the ocean and try to stop this insanity WHILE it's happening'. That is some ballsy shit! And something that no one else is doing. I immediately respected that and wanted to support it in any way I could."
The EP's title track, "Beware The Circling Fin", was inspired by the act of 'shark finning'. Conte explains: "I am particularly disturbed by shark finning. If you've never seen the process, it's absolutely horrifying. Sharks are amazing, extremely unique creatures that command a certain amount of respect. Most people are scared of them because we are well aware of their awesome power. But when you see a deep sea fishing boat engaged in something called 'longlining' or to put it more bluntly, reeling in hundreds of sharks, slicing their fins off on deck while they are completely conscious of the what is happening to them and then tossing their mutilated torsos back into the ocean where they sink to the bottom, you can easily lose all faith in humanity.
"'Beware The Circling Fin' is about a shark finning boat that is rammed and begins to sink in waters heavily infested by sharks. The crew finds themselves in the precarious position of being surrounded by thousands of the same beasts that they were just moments ago murdering by the hundreds. As they rapidly sink into the ocean the crew is eaten alive. Payback is a bitch, isn't it?"

EARLY MAN Signs With THE END RECORDS
The End Records has announced the signing of the Brooklyn-based trio EARLY MAN.
The band (and duo at the time) won critical praise in 2005 with the release of its debut album, "Closing In", a fully charged heavy metal machine with a gung-ho attitude and punk sensibility. The CD spawned the successful single "Death is the Answer" and the video saw regular rotation on MTV2's "Headbanger's Ball".
Singer/guitarist Mike Conte commented on the signing: "We're excited. The End has a no-frills, no-bullshit approach. They're dedicated to putting out good heavy music. I liked the whole set up right from the start. I mean, from the first time we walked into their offices I was impressed. We saw a bunch of people running around busting their asses in a fucking warehouse in Bushwick, Brooklyn. That's attractive to me. It's also great because this way when Manhattan gets nuked, which with any luck should be any day now, we'll still have a label! But seriously, their focus seems to be on getting our music out to the people, plain and simple. Their method is smart and somewhat unique. We're very much looking forward to working with them."
Mike Bigel from The End says, "We are beyond excited to add EARLY MAN to The End's roster. Everybody at the label has been a fan of the band since the beginning; now being in the position to take them to the next level and get them the recognition they deserve is killer! Expect great things to come out of this relationship formed in the pits of hell!"

Album Of The Day-Tummler-"Early Man" (2002)
The Album Of The Day is "Early Man" by Tummler.
Review:
Everything about Tummler is "thick" - thick utterances from overdriven amplification; thick percussive blasts, hell, even Brad Buldak's trademark delivery is thick. A kinetic wall of huge sound. This is the kinda stuff where you stand away from the club's PA for fear of spontaneous peristalsis in the lower intestine. Hearing damage at the very least.
This is Tummler's second major release, pert near three years after the release of Queen to Bishop IV on Man's Ruin. And we all know what happened there. The signature Man's Ruin kitty ended balls up on a lonely San Fran street.
So God bless Small Stone for stepping up to plate and knocking one out of the park for the boys from Illinois. Early Man will not disappoint those that dug the rich n' heavy druggy space doom vibes emanating from Queen to Bishop IV. I'll tell ya right now that "Arlo" with it's Danzig-on-Percoset crush and "Planet Moai"'s epic long space funeral dirge have the makings of classics. While I liked "Here's to Your Destruction"'s decidedly upbeat instrumental sentiment than the rest of the album, it doesn't detract from the remainder. I just don't really like instrumentals that much. But that's my own trip. And we all know I have issues. It's great to have Tummler back in action. Early Man is an equal opportunity release. Stoner and Metal fans alike ought to embrace this one in equal measure. (Chris Barnes, Hellride Music)
