Quick Hit From Ambassador

"As soon as track one "Astado Natural" starts to play an instant haze of smoke fills the room. My immediate thought from the first note was Blue Cheer, but as the song continued on things became fuzzier and fuzzier. The band doesn't wander very far from the heavy, and I mean heavy blues, although the sinister riff on "El Siniestro" hits some pretty evil doom territory. The band hails from Argentina, so the lyrics are primarily barked in the band's native language, regardless of the language barrier the band tears it up track after track on this damn fine demo. Take a Hit and pass this along!

New Band To Burn One To: JPK

There is very little information available surrounding JPK, other than they’re from Argentina, and this appears to be their debut EP. Other than that we guess all you really need to know is that their six-song EP of instrumental stoner psych jams is a hell of an impressive listen.

What the band lack in information, and track names, they make up for with their brand of riff driven heaviness that cascades out of the speakers. We’re expecting to hear a lot more from, and about JPK in the furure, but for now, enjoy the mystery.

Well look no further than Argentina’s rising stars of the scene, Manglar, who have recently released their debut 6-track record, bursting with heavy fuzzed-over stoner jams that will leave you oozing after days of sun scorched desert highways and generator parties.

The trio (Bruno Giorgio Canteros, Joaquin Motor, Mariano J. New Band To Burn One To: NARCOIRIS

Heavy Planet presents today's "New Band To Burn One To"...NARCOIRIS!

What is it? A heavy rock trio inspired by the true classic rock sounds of Sabbath, Zeppelín, The Beatles and many 70s Argentinean heavy rock pioneers such as Pappo and Color Humano. It’s heavy, dark, slow but also it’s got a heavy melodic edge.

Hailing since 2006, Narcoiris was re-born in late 2008 when founding members Fernando “Finger” Figueiras and Mariano Bertolazzi –after playing many shows in the Buenos Aires area- suffered the desertion of a previous drummer, that’s when they crossed paths with old school drummer Sebastián Romani (former Stonerwitch, Buffalo and Humo Del Cairo among others) And decide to hit the road once again with a renewed approach and idea.

In less that 6 months they come up with 10 brand new songs which 6 of them are selected to be recorded for the first Narcoiris EP entitled “Cazador” released freely on the internet. Heavy, gloomy yet classic and powerful, Cazador was well received and quickly became the first taste of the band’s sound and helped to set foot into the local scene and to set the path to come. After an entire year of playing shows around the city, in 2011 Narcoiris hit the studio once again to record its first full length album. The result is “Temporal” a dense and thick album which hits harder than the previous effort with booming, dense drums, heavy dirty basses, down-tuned roaring guitars and mellow vocals, which take you back directly to the early bands of the Argentinean classic rock movement of the 70s.

Recorded entirely on 2’’ analog tape, and mastered in the US it is a powerful sample of the sound and ideas behind Narcoiris. We invite you to listen and make up your mind.

Because it’s not stoner, it’s not doom, it’s not psychedelic. It’s just rock.

"Narcoiris is apparently a band that does not lend well to genre labeling and I don't blame them. Fortunately for us this Argentinean 3-piece is well adept at combining the best elements of stoner and doom making for one hell of a heavy rock sound. With a clean vocal style and lyrics sung in their native tongue, Narcoiris pounds out some fine slow-grooved head-bobbing. If all "rock" were this good we wouldn't have to put up with shit like Nickleback and Three Days Grace."

New Band To Burn One To: BANDA DE LA MUERTE

The "New Band To Burn One To" today is Banda de la Muerte.

Bio:

From Argentina, a referent country of the Spanish speaking rock and home of very important bands like Pappo's Blues, Vox Dei, Pescado Rabiosso, it comes for the the first time to Europe Banda De La Muerte one of the most burning acts of the local scene.

Each of the four members of the quartet comes from emblematic origins in the Buenos Aire's Stoner and Metal underground scene, as for example Jesus Martyr and Buffalo.

The band has been influenced in its origins by the most primitive Black Sabbath and the heavy riffs of Melvins cut by Black Flag's dissonant and provocative attitude.

BDLM's style synthesizes the Stoner and Doom's essence from which it comes from with the typical hardcore punk's nervousness and the Sludge's asphyxia, always with a very personal feature which coins the legendary elements of the local ancestors.

From its foundation in 2009, the band prides itself for being part of the South American Sludge movement having shared the Buenos Aires City Arena with their friends of Los Natas, Poseidotica and Dragonauta. It has also been beyond Argentinian boundaries touring internationally with Cultura Tres (Ven) and Hielo Negro (Chi) at the beginning of 2011.

The first band record was launched in 2009 by Zonda Records. The record has deserved review from the specialized press such as Rolling Stone and Jedbangers magazines. It has also been reviewed by specialized web sites and the TV media such as MTV and Much Music.

"Along with fellow Sludge merchants Cultura Tres, Banda de la Muerte have put a stranglehold on the South American Sludge metal scene. Playing each note with wreckless abandon, the band tears it up with it's Latin flair and pushes the boundaries of metal. Stoner rock grooves seep through the harrowing fist of doom as hardcore punk attitude uppercuts you in the jaw. Even though the music is aggressive, there is quite a bit of melody that shines through. New Band To Burn One To: SAMURAI

Samurai is today's "NEW BAND TO BURN ONE TO".

Bio:

SAMURAI is a rock band formed in Santa Fe, Argentina. We've been playing since 2009 as three piece band (guitar - bass - drum). We love jamming so all songs come like this. In april 2011 we talk to Juan Manuel Diaz who is the guitar-singer of the band Humo del Cairo (Meteorcity). He accept to be our producer so we travel to Buenos Aires to start our first studio experience. We record all the tracks in two days. In june we get the final cd-version "Todo el Odio del Unicornio" with 9 songs all of them by SAMURAI, no covers. Now the complete cd version with the art cover is done. Our debut album "Todo El Odio Del Unicornio" is available now on Opium Records.
